Best fish and chips. I've tried all around and haven't found better fried hake anywhere else! Had the grilled kingklip tonight and i think its my new favourite! Will be back soon
Tasty freshly made Gatsby's the seafood pink sauce is delicious! Seems like there's a deal every day!
Some of the best fish and chips I've had in Cape Town, by far. I also enjoy their gatsbies. They have daily specials and their portion sizes are decent (very filling). The staff is always nice and they are always laughing with each other, including the owner, who is very hands-on in the kitchen. I introduced my mother to this fishery about a month ago, and it's the first thing she wants to have when she visits Cape Town. I can't say much about the vibe. I mean, it's a fishery lol. Overall, I definitely recommend this place.
I suggest phoning in your order in advance as otherwise you will have to wait. Hugely popular fishery with amazing prawns, calamari and fish. BIG portions and not shy with the chips... The Friday order lasted till Sunday!
I live in southern suburbs and was visiting my sister who lives close by to sunset fisheries. I went with her to go and buy hake and chips and walking in I was immediately impressed by the friendliness and service. There was a gentlemen frying the fish( I'm assuming he was the owner) I'm not sure but just asking my sister how she would like her hake fried, crispy, extra crispy I was blown away, usually you buy fish and chips and you wait, you get your order, and I said to her, he is asking how you would like your fish fried?wow, it's that personal touch, going the extra mile, definitely a place I would go back to and make my regular. Value for money and portions are huge. Well done team
I once ordered via phone for collection. Because it was almost closing time, they were still kind enough to accept my order. When we got home to eat, we found that they scraped the last of the "kaiings" to fulfill our order. That's was a real turn-off. Other than that occasion, I drive out of my area to buy from Sunset Fisheries. Always fresh and always friendly staff.
Food was delicious and freshly made. Service was excellent.
